War was still going between England and Burma, but Burma was losing the war. So King of Burma, want to negotiate with England to cease the war. He demanded Adoniram to become the translator for the negotiation. Adoniram did his duty faithfully. One of the demand from England was for the King to release of the prisoners. The King was not happy but knew that he had no other choice but to release all the prisoners, including Adoniram.
After his release, Adoniram and Ann travelled back to Rangoon. The city was ruined because of the war. When Adoniram and Ann reached their ruined house, one of their Burmese passed them a package, which was the ‘pillow’ that used to store the Bible’s translation manuscript. The ‘pillow’ was left behind in the jail that time. But God used one of the Burmese, Maung Shway-gaung, who already became a Christian to bring that back and passed it to Adoniram old house before that man died.
After the war, it’s more possible to share the gospel although it’s not all easy. One day, Adoniram had to go to other place to become a translator and being promised that he will be given more chance to share gospel to many other places. When he was away, Ann passed away because of her sickness.
Adoniram was so sad and despair. But God strengthen and console him, so that he can fulfilled this biggest duty. To share the gospel, and to finish translate Bible in Burmese. In the end, he finished it, and even made a dictionary so that other missionaries who came later will be easier to share gospel in Burmese.
When he was 61 year old, Adoniram was so sick, and doctor suggested to bring him to the ship so he could breath easier. after some times on the ship, Adoniram, the faithful servant of God, died on that ship. At that time, more and more Burmese listened to the gospel because of the translated Bible, and more believe in Jesus.
