It all started a very long time ago. The Three Wiseman saw a bright new star in the sky. They were very curious about it. “Perhaps it means a royal birth,” they said. “Could it be that the King of the Jews has come?” they talked about it for a while and decided to follow the star until they found the one we were looking for.
They set out on their journey, carrying very special gifts for the young king, and they kept their eyes on the special star, following its direction.
At last they came to the city of Jerusalem. “Where is the young child?” they asked everyone. “Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews? They have seen his star and have come from the East to worship him.”
King Herod heard that they were in Jerusalem. As soon as he discovered why they had come, he quickly called the Jewish chief priests and teachers together. “Where is this Christ to be born?” Herod wanted to know.
“In Bethlehem,” they told him,”just as the Scriptures said would happen.”
Then privately, King Herod sent for The Three Wiseman who had come from the East. He questioned them about the bright star and then he said, “Wise men, go and look for the child in Bethlehem. When you find him, let me know so that I may go and worship him also”
They left the king, and the wonderful bright star appeared once more. It led them to Bethlehem and shone over the place where the child was.
When they came to the place, they met the child’s mother, Mary and when they saw the young child, they bowed down and worshiped him. they opened the treasures they had brought and presented Him with gold, incense and myrrh. It was a joyful celebration. After they finished visiting Jesus, they were warned in a dream not to go back to Herod and tell him where to find the child. So they went back another way to their country in the East.
They will never forget their star-led trip to Bethlehem. They were so glad that they saw the child Jesus, the promised Saviour King and that they were able to worship Him and offer Him our gifts
