The Church is built by Jesus Christ. It is built on the teaching of Apostles and Prophets.
Apostles- The disciples of Jesus who saw Him. Was taught by Him and was personally sent by Jesus to teach the Gospel.
Prophets- A person chosen to speak for God and His People.
Prophets in Old Testament:
Moses who wrote the first 5 books in the OT
Isaiah (66 chapters), major Prophets
Jeremiah (52 chapters)
Ezra (10 chapters) minor Prophets
Hosea (12 chapters)
Micah
Amos
Major -it is written in more chapters Minor – less chapters in the book.

How do we know these books are written by Paul?
Paul ‘s unique style of writing.
He begins his letter by introducing himself as an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God.

Ephesians 1:1
-Always pray for his readers
-Teaching them doctrines about :
1. Faith 2. Christ 3.Salvation
-Encouraging and mentoring his younger disciples like Timothy, Titus and Onesimus.
Why is it important for the Church to know Doctrines:
1. Church is built by Jesus Christ
2. Church is built on the teaching of the Apostles and Prophets.
3. Church is always attack by False teachings.
a. from inside church -heretic
b. from outside church-philosophy
Example of heretic:
Galatians 1:6-9
There is only 1 Gospel in Jesus Christ
Justification by Faith alone in Jesus Christ.not required circumcision and obedience to the whole law as a means of justification before God.One is not saved by works.
Example of philosophy :
Gnosticism – was influenced by Greek Philosophy which taught the body was evil and the spirit was good.
Therefore they say Christ cannot be God since he came in a human body.
1 John 4:2-3
But every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God, and this is the spirit of antichrist which you have heard is coming and now is already in the world.
Paul also emphasize all christians to know the words as it is written in
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching ,for reproof for correction for training in righteousness.
Paul is the greatest missionary ,he wrote in Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes to the Jews first and also to the Greek.
Paul also believes in predestination.
Ephesians 1:4
Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before him in love
Ephesians1:5
He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ according to the purpose of His will.
Another important teaching of Salvation is BY Grace Alone
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by Grace you have been saved thriugh faith .And this is not our own doing .It is the gift of God.
9 Not a result of works so that no one may boast.
Not only Doctrinal , Paul also encourage his co-workers for example
1 Corinthians 15:33
Bad companies ruins good morals
2 Corinthians 5:7
We walk by faith ,not by sight.
Now that Jesus Christ is no longer in this world, His words has to be passed down to people after us.
Paul has spread the Gospel to Europe, Turkey and Asia so that we can listen to the Gospel, we should follow His example ,there are many people who do not know The Gospel.
