Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses
Bahan Alkitab: Mat 19:16-30, Mat 5:17-48
Points of Learning:
Cognitive: The rich young man thinks he is able to obey the 10 commandments to earn the eternal life.
Affective: Children realize they need the Lord Jesus to save them from sin.
Psychomotor: Children want to obey God for God’s glory alone.
Cognitive: As God’s people, we are to keep God’s law as a guidance how to live.
Affective: Children realize that obeying His laws is the right way to respond to the law.
Psychomotor: Children learn to self-examine in which laws they still don’t obey God.
Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Obey a faithful God.
King of Persia who called Cyrus has been moved by God in his heart. He has the idea to let the Jewish people who has been kept in Babylon for many years return back to their homeland called Jerusalem and not only that he allows them to returned home but also to rebuilt the temple of the Lord. He has given his proclamation to the Jews. Our God is sovereign, and He can control everything even the heart of Cyrus (King Persia)
God has promised his people and he is a faithful God. He knows this would be the right time for his people to go back to Jerusalem. So, He caused Cyrus (King Persia) to give the proclamation. Not only that King Cyrus gave all the things that Jewish people need for their family, he also gave them the items which needed to build the temple of God such as Silver and Gold, animals, goods and other things to start life gain in their homeland. He also brough out the things that King Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from the temple. King Cyrus returned everything to the Jews, he made the list of all the items such as 5,400 silver and gold dishes, pans, bows, and other items belonging to the temple. The Jews happily brought back everything that has been given back to their homeland and left Babylon.
Zerubbabel and Jeshua were the people who lead all the Jews back to their own land. After they settled down in their hometown, they got together in Jerusalem and start to rebuild the altar of the Lord and offered sacrifices to Him. They gave offerings of money and food, drink and soil so the temple could be rebuilt. After the foundation of the temple was laid, the people took their places and start to praise the Lord, the blew the trumpets, they sang to the Lord, they gave a great shout. They shouted to the Lord, He is good, his love to Israel endures forever (Ezra 3:11b) it was really a grand celebration. They knew that when they obeyed the God of Israelites, He is faithful God who is loving, powerful and sovereign (in control of everything) and they praise Him for all His goodness and mighty God.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He takes me to lush pastures; he leads me to refreshing water. He restores my strength. He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation. Even when I must walk though the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me, your rod and your staff reassure me. You prepare a feast before me in plain sight of my enemies. You refresh my head with oil, my cup is completely full. Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days, and I will live in the Lord’s house for the rest of my life.
Bahan Alkitab: Deuteronomy 31-34, Isaiah 6:6-7, 1 Corinthians 15:4
Moses already 120 years old. Moses has 2 important task:
– Lead the Israellites from Egypt to the promise land
– Write the law, that is the first 5 books of the Bible
Moses told the Israellites that he is old, no longer able to lead them. The Israellites have to read the law, listen to God’s word and obey what He says. He reminded Israel that God had taken care of them and loved them, so the people must love God with all their hearts, obey and serve him. Moses told the Israellites that Joshua will lead them go into the promise land.
Moses climbed Mount Nebo, and God showed him all the land of Canaan. Moses looked at the land he had been waiting so long to see. Then Moses died on the mountain. Joshua later marched into Canaan and win the land.
When Moses died, God appointed Joshua to continue marched into the promise land. The people who trust and obey God will continue God’s work. How about us? Do you want to continue God’s work?
God loves us and keeps His words. We have to trust and obey Him with all our heart.

This week children learned that the Law that God has gave to us is good and it shows that the giver of the Law Himself is good.
Disobeying the commandment given by God means that we have done wrong and sin unto God, and we learned that we are unable to follow God perfectly because we are sinners.
Understanding the Law also means that we realize that we often disobey God and understand that we need a Savior and God has done the unimaginable which is sending His Son, Jesus to live as a human, fulfil the Law perfectly, and paid for our sins on the Cross.
Children is reminded that the 10 Commandments was given to Israel after they are being saved from Egypt.
This means that we are not obeying God to be saved but we are saved first and only then we can obey God.
We are still studying the 10 Commandments because this is how God wants us to live.
Children also learned that we can still fall into sin and when we do, we should not run away from God but we need to confess our sins, ask Jesus for forgiveness and ask Him for guidance.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
